Tutorial: Baby summer hat :)

http://www.prudentbaby.com/2010/04/summery-sun-hat-with-free-downloadable.html

I saw the above pattern and tutorial and decided to give it a go. it is NOT my pattern!
I have made my own tutorial as i have made mine fully lined.
Its a very easy make and is very cute!!!!!

First cut the peices. You need 4 of the triangle pieces both in material and lining (8 in total) and 2 rim peices in both material and lining (4 in total)

1) take 2 of the triangle pieces and pin the face to face along one side edge , Sew together along the edge. Finish by serging/overlocker or zig zag.

2) Take another peice and pin face to face on the other side of one triangle piece, Sew together.
Take you last piece and pin face to face on another unfinished edge of the hat, Sew together.

3) now join the remaining side. and sew This forms your hat peice. Should be a full circle.

4)Now we make the rim- Take to peices of rim and pin face to face, now sew

5) open out and it should be a circle.

6) Now pin to the top of the hat and sew all around. Put to one side.

7) Now repeat 1-3 with lining.
8) make rim as you did for main material.

9) pin to the hat face to face with a piece of ribbon in between (you could make your own ties if you don't want to use ribbon)

10) sew all around.

11) Now place the 2 hat peices face to face making sure you tuck the ribbon in and pin all around.

12) sew all aroung leaving a small gap

13) turn right way round and top stitch around rim, Closing the hole and you go along.

14) now hand sew a few small stitches in the top of the hat to hold the material and lining together
15) and there you have a very easy summer hat for you little one :) or in my case modelled by 'ted'

Pattern: baby strappy dress 0-3months

Baby bodice dress 0-3months

Here's the pattern its needs to be printed on a A4 sheet! the pattern has seam allowance INCLUDED! Please only use this pattern for personal use! if you use this pattern you are more than welcome to link to me :) x

Here's tutorial

Cut Peices out.

Take straps, Fold in half, sew or overlock edge.

Turn right way round. (this can be a right pain to do, I find long nose pliers helps :) you could always use ribbon instead.

Place straps in between the two front pieces (face to face)

sew along + under armpits

when sewing under armpits push straps in to middle so they don't get caught!!

Turn right way

Place the front right way round take 2 back pieces and place face to face with straps inside (see pics if you don't understand what im on about)

sew 3 sides repeat on other side

At one side make a hem about a 1cm thick

Add snaps or buttons/button holes to both sides (I added snaps/poppers)

sew the side peices face to face

Turn right way round (theres your bodice!)

I then added bias to the bottom front side only

Add skirt gathering all the way along (sorry no pic of this)

JUST MADE A QUICK TUT USING SCRAP MATERIAL TO GIVE YOU A IDEA AND HOW TO ADD THE SKIRT BIT

place the top peice bias side down

Gather the skirt piece along the inside of the top

Place other side of the bodice peice down folding under slightly and pinning all along

sew along making sure the skirt peice is tucked under

The above picture is the inside nice and neat :) (well ish i cannot sew stretchy fabric haha)

Now hem the skirt or bias all the way round!!

Thats it your DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tutorial: Maternity skirt

Well the other day whilst sorting through bag of clothes for charity shop i spotted a skirt i haven't worn for a while, and thought it would be great for warmer weather. So decided to do a bit of diy on it

Basically i removed the waist band and the zip, and sewed up where zip would have been, Then took a long stretchy top (also from my charity shop bag) cut it straight across where the bust would have been and folded it in half. I then overlocked it to the skirt and there you have a maternity skirt. Fits good now and has plenty of stretch for a growing bump!!

Tutorial: Gathered maternity boob tube

Place a strappy top on material back facing up ( i used a halter with straps laid down)

Cut around the top Leaving a decent seam allowance.

Place you back piece (that you have just cut out) on to material and cut it about an inch bigger at each side and about 5 inches longer than back piece!
(sorry not a very clear pic)

Place peices face to face
Place a marker where bust ends mine was about 6 inches down (I marked with a pin.) doesn't matter to much about measurements here. (if you want it gathered at the bust just make slightly longer when cutting! ^_^)

Now sew along sides gathering from under the bust.
I did 4 gathers/pleats about a inch and a half apart

Do the same at the other side

Hem top and bottom and your done :)

And now heres a few pictures of it on :)

EDIT!
you might want to make back slightly longer too maybe a inch longer as when i wore this kept on riding up my back! which was very annoying!!!

EDITED TO ADD: this top fitted right to the end of my pregnancy :) (my baby girl was born at 42weeks)
